ESPN I Hate You

Do you know what I hate most about the ESPY Awards show? The fact that it gets replayed 10 times a day on ESPN and ESPN 2. ESPN is usually my flip back channel, but these stupid ESPYs have thrown me off. I can't handle it.

And another thing about this network. I like the 50 states in 50 days thing they've got going, but why did they pick that stupid Bryan Adams song as the theme. They play that song constantly during Sportscenter and then its on during every commercial break on every other show. This ranks right up there with Stuart Scott in my book. Nothing that he does, just him in general.

NFL and NCAA training camps open soon. I'm as giddy as a school girl over this. I'm so excited about Bowling Green this year. If we can take care of Wisconsin and Boise to start the season there's no reason they shouldn't run the table. The east is now a weaker football division with the loss of Marshall. And Miami was a bunch of bums last year so it should be good.

If Ohio State can get there QB situation straight there going to be awesome. The defense will be great as always and they'll actually have a RB that can run in Antonio Pittman. And I get ESPNU now so that means even more college football. Its going to be awesome.

And finally the Browns. I'm so excited about the offseason changes they made. But I'm really not trying to get my hopes up too high. They've let me down before and I'm sure that they'll do it again.

I'm leaving now.

Gone...

The team I work for goes on the road today for 6 days. I couldn't be happier. I have the weekend off. Its glorious. Now in the past this would have been a license for me to go out and get hammered for a couple of nights. Probably not going to happen here. Its not that I don't want to its just that there's no one here to do it with. I have no problem getting drunk by myself, its just that its not as much fun. The only people I know here are the ones I work with and my wife. Two of our three interns don't drink, the one that does is purely a social drinker who only likes to hang out with players, my boss has a family, and our Asst. GM doesn't really drink anymore. I'm sure I'll end up sitting at home the next couple nights with a 12 of sivler bullets, my wife, and our 2 cats. That's more fun than a barrell full of monkeys.

I got my first invite for a fantasy football league today. I'm not going to join that one because one league is more than enough for me to handle. There's a group of us that have played for the last couple of seasons. Its a good time and it only costs $10. I can't wait for football. That is one of the nice things about working here. We actually have young game day employees who are up on recent events. So when I tell someone that I went Bowling Green the first thing they say is "they've got an awesome football team". They don't say "in Kentucky?" Idiots.

After my junior year of college when BG went 2-9 I never thought I'd hear someone say that BG has a good program. But thanks to Urban Meyer and now Greg Brandon, we do have a good program. I think that Omar Jacobs will get an invite to the Heisman presentation this year. If he puts up numbers that are even close to what he did last year they can't keep him out.

When I started here our big league club went into the tank. I just figured that it was my normal jinx that I put on teams that I'm associated with. But over the last month or so they've turned it around and are leading the wild card and only 2 games out of first. Pretty awesome.

I told a couple of guys the other night about my buddies Golden Shower story. They were rolling.

For anyone out there reading this I want to write one thing. I'm not two-faced. I'm about the complete opposite. If I don't like something you're doing I'm going to tell you. The only time I won't is if I know the person I have a problem with is two-faced and when I try to constructively criticize them that they will turn around and bash me behind my back.

That's it, I'm gone.

Am I Still In Florida?

So it started raining in the 3rd inning last night. Terentially. It was almost like a Florida storm that you get a couple times a week. Everyone here was flipping out. Not me, it was just another day at the office. It was awesome that the grounds crew guy who was supposed to be working the game was a no show when it was time to put the tarp on. We rolled it out with 5 people and put it on with 8. Mind you this was with a 40mph wind. So I was running the tarp crew. Barking out orders and getting the job done; a dream come true indeed. The rain may have been similar but that was where the comparison to FLA ended. There were no idiots out pulling tarp yelling "Watch out for the bases" or things like that. I was in control and everyone listened. A nice change of pace indeed. And we had a big crowd last night, so at least that will bump our attendance for tonight. I finally get a weekend off. My first one since I moved up here. I plan on sitting by the pool, catching up on my NCAA football playing, and waging war against my liver. Good times as always.

So I'm a Liar...

I know I said that I would write on this blog more once I was settled. I lied! Get over it. I've been so busy here there's been no time for writing. I find myself constantly busy, and I'm happy about it. I love Danville. Its awesome. The people that I work with are awesome. And judging from the way things are even more in tubes in Florida now I definately made the right call coming up here. My buddy Joe is stopping here next week sometime on his way to Montana. I'm pretty excited because I know that it will be a night of drunkenness. Like me he too bolted Florida. I'm happy for him. He's moving to Montana with my buddy John to work for the parks department. My wife told me yesterday that she was so happy that I got out of that place in Florida when I did. I couldn't agree more. I have to get back to work. Selling tickets and what not. Its not like anyone reads this, but if you do I'll try to get back on in a more timely fashion this time.
