What a Game
That's all I've been able to say for the last hour. The Ohio State-Michigan game was one of the greatest games I have ever seen. I would put that game in my all-time top 5. A lot of this has to do with the fact that I'm a big OSU fan, but screw being objective.
When it was 21-12 I thought they were done. OSU's offense didn't do shit in the 3rd quarter, but the defense held tough. Michigan scored 18 of their 21 points on two fumbles and an 18 yard punt that gave them the ball at the OSU 38. So you could say that the Buckeyes defense shut them down.
Troy Smith played awesome. This guy stepped up and had a huge game last year against UM, and he did it again this year. He didn't break off long runs like last season, this year he beat UM with his arm more than his legs. But with that in mind his 14 yard scramble on 3rd and 11 on the TD drive that made it 21-19 was a back breaker. Just a great game by Troy Smith.
My play of the game had to be Anthony Gonzalez's leaping catch at the 3 on the last drive. Troy Smith kept the play alive with his legs and Gonzalez's made an incredible catch.
I was also screaming at them all day to go to Santonio Holmes because he was like the forgotten man for the first 3 quarters. But then he caught the first TD in the 4th and had a couple of big catches on the last drive.
(I thought them flagging him for the dive was bull shit. There was a man with 2 yards of him, it was a legit dive. The call could have cost OSU the game had it not been for the defense.)
But I have to say that I'm going to take some of the credit for this win. I sat in the recliner for the first 3 quarters of the game. Obviously that worked well for me in the first half. After the 3rd quarter I switched over to the couch, and that's when things started going OSU's way. I'll be expecting a thank from Jim Tressel this week. I do what I can.
My wife had to work at 3 so I haven't had the chance to raz her yet. I plan on hitting my OSU football that plays the fight song and says "Go Buckeyes" as soon as she walks in the door tonight. I may be sleeping on the couch tonight, but it will be well worth it.
