Big Smooth
I've been busy here at work today. Nothing Earth shaking, but enough to make the day pass.
The Browns should really relegate Dennis Northcutt to punt return duty and that's it. He dropped two more would be 1st downs last night on 3rd down. He has to lead the league in that category (if it is one). Needless to say he's up there in drops. I can't understand how he is still ahead of Braylon Edwards on the depth chart. If anything at least stick Frisman Jackson in there. This team really drives me insane. Antonio Bryant is way too inconsistent too. Way too many drops all around. When you're a bad team like the Browns are you can't make mistakes like that.
The Skins-Bucs game and Pats-Dolphins games were two of the most exciting games in the NFL that I've seen this season. I flipped over to the Pats-Phins game in the 2nd quarter and it really looked like it was going to be a snoozer, but I stuck with it. It ended up being a great game. I was really impressed at how hard Saban has the Phins playing. The Skins-Bucs game was just great. Anyone who says they enjoy a defensive struggle is full of shit. It doesn't get any better than two teams going back and forth like that. Gruden=Huge balls for the 2point conversion. But doesn't that make sense? Why risk overtime? If you lose the coin flip, with the way the Skins offense had been playing, you may never see the ball again. And Brunell looked like he did in 2004 on that last play.
Two guys that I think have a good chance of becoming the next Sam Perkins. You know, a big man who manages to stick around the league a few extra years because all he does is shoot threes. My candidates are Donyell Marshall and Rasheed Wallace. Marshall has been morphing into this the last couple of seasons. But I don't care because to this point in the season he has looked like the Cavs best off season acquisition. Wallace has always been able to shoot from deep, but over the last couple of season he's been spending more and more time out there. But anyways, I think that one of these guys will be another Big Smooth by the end of their career.
The SEC didn't disappoint on Saturday. Those were three awesome games. The Auburn-UGA nightcap was the best of the three. I laughed when they kept showing shots of the UGA fans after the game. They all looked like their favorite hog had just died. UF losing to USC was surprising. I don't think that my boy Urban Meyer envisioned SEC defenses to be this good. That coupled with Leak being more of a pocket passer has not helped him at all. And I obviously missed on that 2002 OSU-2005 Bama comparison.
Bowling Green basketball opened up this weekend (in Blacksburg, no I didn't go, I'm lazy). They lost a close game to Western Carolina Thursday night, then beat Virginia Tech on a buzzer beater Saturday afternoon, only to get blown out by Radford on Sunday. Nothing like a maddingly inconsistent start to the season. They're going to have a rough season because they don't have a go to scorer.
In a related story, BG transfer Ronald Lewis scored 18 for Ohio State in their opening scrimmage. If BG would have had him last year they would have won the MAC.
My work bought a John Deere Gator last week. Its awesome. I almost forgot how much fun they are.

Fuck Donyell Marshall. I think you may have something with Sheed and big Smooth. Another reason that Perkins stuck was he was a very good defender, both individually and in the team concept. Rasheed fits the same mold in that area as well.
As for your comment on the Browns, it's very "chicken or egg". Do you drop the key balls because you are a bad team or, are you a bad team because you drop the key balls?
