Both ways, like a bisexual.
This is a story that I heard second hand, but I hold it as very true.
First the background. A couple of weeks back former Florida Marlins manager and North Carolina resident Jack McKeon was in town for a card show at the local high school. The clubhouse manager here at the park was one of the organizers for the event so he got to talk with Jack quite a bit. Here’s the story.
(After the show. Jack’s shootin’ the breeze telling stories when someone asks him about A.J. Burnett getting all that money from Toronto)
They fucked that one up. That kid is the biggest idiot I’ve ever been around in baseball. If he would have been healthy in 2003 there’s no way we would have won the World Series. He’s a complete head case and a jackass. We were a game out of the wild card last year in August and he had won four straight starts for us at that point. Once he realized what situation the team was in he imploded. He went down the shitter and cost us a shot at the playoffs. If the Blue Jays would have called me for a reference that’s exactly what I would have told them. You would think they could have figured that out when I sent him home with two weeks left in the season. He was such a cancer that I couldn’t even have him around the other players by the end of the season. What a waste of talent.
###
Now of course Jack told this whole story while puffing on a cigar. I thought that it was an awesome story and it makes me laugh every time I read something about how the Jays are going to make the playoffs this season. When a guy has that kind of stuff and his best season has been 12-12, shouldn’t that set off some alarms? Especially when you’re looking at paying him $55 million. I would say that this isn’t a guy that you can count on.

Should Tyler getting fired for wearing a Nats shirt really be a surprise. We are talking about the king of overreactions here. Now it can make him look likes he's running the entire operation and make him even more indespensible. Awesome dude for an awesome organization.
I'm with Joe. I couldn't believe that Buck would just can Tyler like that after Tyler had stuck it out with him through all the uncertainty and defections. Then to add insult to injury, he does it in front of staff, interns, fans. Real classy. Just further proof that B&B are all about themselves and have zero sense of loyalty.
The best part is that Buck's official reason was "divided loyalties" and then he switched it to "Tyler's sales were down". Apparently at one point when pressed by Andy (who was pissed, according to Trey) on his reasoning, Buck responded that Tyler was expected to bring in $50,000 of new business this year. Which is laughable in this market without the benefit of ST. At this point Andy looked at Buck and said,"Well, you've never had $50,000 in new sales here." Exactly. How many times did Calvin and I go over those sales sheets saying the same thing?
I feel I can say with full confidence that he is the worst person I've ever had the displeasure of working with. What a despicable human being.
This is ridiculous. Buck is the worst person I've ever worked with. Maybe the worst part of it all is that everyone on the outside still thinks that Buck is this great guy with all of these wacky ideas. It really makes me want to puke.
Not many people can fool Andy, but Buck definitely pulled one one him. Brett is a distant second on that list.
Good call on the story. This place has all but zapped my creativity. I've actually been getting sharp pains in the back-left of my head today. Maybe I have a tumor.
When I broached the subject of Buck entering the Harris suite during the Cardinals' Spring game (after sharing this latest gem), Pat (in complete seriousness) exclaimed, "I'll get up and drag his ass right out of there." Later in the conversation, Pat referred to Buck as a "classless piece of trash". I'm already looking forward to March 8th.
Pat Hughes: Awesome Dude in the purest sense.
