Hope you had a hell of a piss, Arnold!
I know that one shouldn’t take joy in someone else’s pain, but I find it pretty easy to root against Michelle Wie. There was an article in Sport Illustrated towards the end of the summer that talked about how Wie is despised by the other young players on the LPGA (I was bored and it was the only article left). It was actually pretty interesting. While Wie has all of the tools to be great, she doesn’t have the head for it at this point. She’s been so busy playing on the pro tours since she was 14 or so that she hasn’t won any tournaments. Therefore she doesn’t know how to close out and react to pressure situations. This is why she busts every time she has a shot at a cut on the PGA and why she choked on a huge sausage at the LPGA US Open last year.
The Cavs-Lakers game was great last night. Unfortunately for me the Cavs lost, but it was still a great game. One thing that I was really disappointed in was LeBron’s free throw shooting. He was 4 of 9 from the line and the Cavs lost 99-98. If he would’ve made two more (that’s still only 66.7%) the Cavs win because Kobe is never in position to win it. It was good to see Drew Gooden hustle and grab the board on LeBron’s missed FT at the end of the game. He’s becoming more and more consistent with his effort. He still has his clueless moments though. But considering the Cavs don’t run any plays for him he’s doing a nice job cleaning up Damon Jones’s bricks.
Speaking of Jones, he needs to be taken out of the starting lineup. I know that the Cavs options are limited without Cousin Larry, but Jones is not a starter. His role on this team is to come off of the bench and hit open 3’s. Which is something he’s struggled with lately. I really think that Luke Jackson deserves a shot to start. He’s rebounded well this season from his back injury. Putting him at the “3” and moving LeBron into the backcourt looks a lot better than Jones and Eric Snow both starting. Not to mention having to play Mike Wilkes significant minutes because they don’t have another backup point guard if Jones is starting.
I read a great article on Freedarko.com today. It compared Mehmet Okur to Elvis. The similarities are startling.
I’m really torn on the Bears-Panthers and Pat-Broncos games this weekend. I feel confident in the Seahawks and I think that the Colts are going to come out and smoke Pittsburgh. I love the Bears defense, but I have trouble trusting Grossman in his first playoff game. And even though the Panthers have a playoff experienced QB in Delhomme, I don’t totally trust him either because he’s always been kind of a gunslinger.
I love the way the Pats are playing right now. But they’re going to Denver. And while buck-toothed John isn’t there anymore its still a hard place to go into and win. The Pats aren’t usually fooled twice in the same season, but Shanahan may be returning to genius status after this season.
The final call is a pussed-out 2-team parlay. Take the money, don’t be a hero.
